あれほど気をつけていたというのに、部屋に夏を入れてしまった。宅配便を受け取っている間に入り込んだのかもしれないし、荷物の中に紛れ込んでいたのかもしれない。あわてて追い出そうとしても手遅れで、あっと思う間に部屋は夏色に染まってゆく。部屋の真ん中に置いたコタツも、窓の目張りも無駄になってしまった。徐々に気温が上がり、蝉の声がぎいぎいと増幅してゆく中で僕はひとり途方にくれる。飾ったおぼえのない風鈴が、窓辺で誇らしげに揺れている。
